“John Wick” movie review (3/5 – good)

A decent & stylish action movie

There is some deep shit even here! What is “the management”, “continental
“, “house rules”, “contract”, etc.?? Even assassins/mafia have a moral code, they must, in order to survive.

Sorrow can very quickly turn into rage, if provoked in the right direction & degree.

Notice – this is what made this movie worth watching for me – how Wick actually ‘stabs himself’ during the final fight with the villain! He wants to end his life after this last war, because he has nothing left to live for.
He intends to die bleeding, as he watches the video of his wife, but his steel will doesn’t allow his body to just give up and succumb, so……….

The spiritual man is the one who can turn into a demon if necessary, and whose training has made him so tough that suicide becomes impossible.

Wick-ed 😉

Even the boogeyman needs a friend. Who was Jesus’ Marcus? Peter or Judas?

“It’s personal (this time)” – isn’t it always?!

“Doctor Strange” movie review (4/5 – Hit!)

WOW! I loved this movie even more than “Captain Fantastic”. Watched it in the cinema.
The blend of visual effects, plot, dialogue, action, characters and spirituality/philosophy was just perfect. The 3D was superb too. It never became boring or dragging at any point.

East meets West

I am a doctor and I am strange (medical –> spiritual). So……!?

Christian theology:
Agamotto – Christ
Ancient One, Strange, Mordo, etc. – the Church
Dormammu/dark dimension – Father GOD
Kaecilius – Lucifer/Satan
The bargain – the Cross/atonement
Kamar-Taj/Sanctum – churches
Guardians – clergy/theologians/ministers

The Garden of Eden, the temptation & the Fall

Compare with “The Matrix”, “Inception” & “Tron: Legacy”

Immensely enjoyable AND deeply edifying!

“Forget everything you think you know”
“There are other ways to save lives”
Expand your mind –> change your world

Breaking the rules in order to keep the Law.
Bending nature without breaking it.

“Captain Fantastic” movie review (4/5 – Hit!)

It’s preachy, but still immensely enjoyable!

The hero carries the entire story on his shoulders.

Maybe education should function like a Christian monastery which trains people and then sends them into the world as missionaries.

I suspect that the wife must have strongly disagreed with his vision whenever she was in the depressive pole of her psychosis, and highly praise him when in mania…

The joyous funeral is, according to me, (one of) the most crucial part(s) of the movie.

Should I check out Noam Chomsky a little more in depth? I had seen the documentary video “The Manufacture of Consent”

In the end, the Captain does pass the test given for him by his wife/kids – he accepts his fallibility and imperfection both in character and knowledge!

Compare with the movie “Partisan” – the dark side of isolationism!

For the church today, what does it mean to be “in the world, but not of it”? Is it possible or preferable to be outside the system while still living within mainstream society?

City on a hill
Vs.
Salt of the earth

So, what is “the real world”?

So, Judas is Jesus’ (best) friend after all!

“White God” movie review (4/5 – Hit!)

WOW! Just like “Amores Perros” – gut-wrenching…

This is Foxy, my Hagen (‘Body’):-)

I have a Lili too 😉

Music, the transcendent language!

Note the slaughterhouse and the cows too. It’s not just about dogs…
I have completely stopped killing & eating goats, cows and pigs for the past 1 year or so. I think everyone should.

How do we make cities more safe and decent without destroying the urban flora and fauna?

Also compare with the crying need for human adoption, and the dangers of neglect/abuse (E.g. Terrorism)…

Another analogy could be the psychoanalytic relationship between the rational and the unconscious mind.

Why this title?? Maybe a reference to racism and the obsession with being ‘pure-bred’ (the answer is found in the review link)

LRH ~ Donald Trump!?
Rural white working class America ~ Church of Scientology

Compare with the movie “The Master” – check out the unforgettable & hyper-real Philip Seymour Hoffman!

Check out the New Yorker article on Paul Haggis Vs. Church of Scientology

John Travolta & Tom Cruise – isn’t it better to be real-life heroes than reel-life celebrities?

Compare with my relationship with the Christian church
What are the cultic qualities of the Spiritual Formation Group that I lead?

Cults & apostates – “To believe is human, to doubt divine”, “The fidelity of betrayal” – Peter Rollins
